People Before Products

September 30, 2019 | Technology

The exponential pace of progress in Artificial Intelligence has led to an increasingly worrying narrative on the ethics and regulatory oversight of such powerful self-learning technology. At Panasonic R&D Center Singapore, we create the future while being guided by the wisdom of the past. Our esteemed founder, Matsushita once said “Develop people before making products”. A machine, even a self-learning or unsupervised learning one at that, is only as good as the humans developing and programming it. Our foremost duty lies in developing the best possible human resources to remain at the forefront of innovations that will change the lives of our customers for the better.

Benefit from exclusive access to Panasonic’s unique learning environment and extensive resources while pursuing your research. Compete in International competitions that will put your research on global scale. Cheng Yu, an Electrical and Electronic Engineering 3rd year student from Nanyang Technological University recounted, “Working alongside the team in unison to achieve No.1 in Microsoft Research’s MS Celeb 1M face recognition challenge using deep learning and being recognized world-wide is an experience I can never have achieved elsewhere.”

During his internship, Ouyang Xi, a Huazhong University of Science and Technology Electrical Engineering student got to “Venture into the practical usage of deep learning” and “compete with top commercial products.” Panasonic R&D Center Singapore offers unrivalled internship opportunities that will cultivate your talents and challenge your capabilities, so you are industry ready. James Andrew Pohadi, ISTD from Singapore University of Technology and Design agrees, “It has given me ample opportunities to learn state of the art computer vision methods in face sensing. Overall, the internship has been a worthwhile experience!”

Our founder Matsushita strongly believed in both formally educating his employees while also setting aside time for them to self-study. Similarly, our internship programme includes a mix of invaluable on-the-job learning with leading experts in the industry guiding you in your research area while complementing this with learning autonomy to develop your skills individually and push your boundaries. Nicholas Foong, an intern from Queens College, University of Cambridge pointed this out, “Panasonic R&D Center Singapore surprised me with the flexibility to work autonomy, giving me the space to learn and develop my craft progressively while breaking new ground at the forefront” while ChengYu remarked “I’ve gained R&D skills equivalent to the caliber of a PhD researcher!”

Be one of our brilliant interns who strive to make a difference at the forefront of Research and Development. Apply Today!
